Applications for PhD and Postdoc positions

If you are interested in working with us as a PhD student or postdoc, please send us an email. State briefly why you are interested and attach a CV, including information about your academic profile. No need for a separate cover letter or certificates. Important: please insert “Application PhD” or “Application Postdoc” in the subject line. If you are applying to a specific advertisement, note this in your email.

Current open thesis positions

REMINDER. If you are a CL student from CIS and want to do a BSc/MSc thesis in our lab, you must contact a supervisor (through our application form) at least two weeks before the faculty-wide registration period:

  • Feb 12 2025 for MSc thesis
  • Feb 26 2025 for BSc thesis

We would also like to point out the opportunity to do a Master thesis or research project at Media Bias Group in Tokyo. If you are interested, please contact them first (enough in advance!), and then ask us to officially supervise you on this project.

Masters/Bachelors Thesis and Internships

  • If you want to do a thesis at the lab, kindly fill out this form or look at the advertised thesis topics above.
  • If you are a Master/Bachelor student in Computational Linguistics at LMU, please be mindful of the deadlines advertised on the CIS website. Additionally you can pick one of the topics at this link (only available to LMU students).
  • Sometimes, we take master students or summer interns if we get exceptional applicants (this usually means very good grades and a personal recommendation). Please fill out this form and mention that you are interested in an internship.
